Apply now for your school or district to be honored as a model of #SecondarySchoolSuccess

Excellence and Innovation in Secondary Schools

Is your school or district a model of secondary school success? As part of its mission to promote high school transformation, the Alliance for Excellent Education (the Alliance) is seeking to discover and share examples of secondary school success through its 2015–16 Call for Submissions.

Educators and leaders selected from these high schools and/or school districts will receive national recognition and may be invited to participate in online and in-person events throughout the coming year. Additionally, they will be given opportunities to be highlighted in video interviews, case studies, and other publications released by the Alliance. Among other areas of work, exemplars may be profiled through the Alliance’s national Digital Learning Day and Future Ready Schools efforts. These activities will offer an opportunity to inform policymakers, state officials, district leaders, school administrators, and educators from all backgrounds about promising practices that are improving student outcomes in local communities.

With an particular emphasis on schools and school districts that are making a difference for students in socioeconomically disadvantaged and traditionally underserved communities, the Alliance seeks to identify exemplars in the following areas:

  • personalized learning
  • project- and work-based learning
  • data-informed instruction
  • emphasis on deeper learning outcomes
  • strategic technology integration
  • innovative uses of time

Recent exemplars include the Baltimore County Public Schools (MD), Porterville Unified School District (CA), and Saint Paul High School (AR).
